Metropolis - posters in Spies
Spies 1928 - Metropolis posters
Introduction
Fritz Lang released the silent film Spione / Spies in 1928. In a number of scenes, posters for his 1927 film Metropolis can be observed gracing the walls of various buildings. Three of these scenes are reproduced below. Other elements of Metropolis introduced into Spies include:
- A bundle of the Metropolis money can be seen lying on Haghis desk.
- Haghis clock is a 24 hour clock just like in Metropolis.
The following image is a close shot of a man standing on the
sidewalk, with a number of large Werner Graul 3-sheet Metropolis posters on a
wall in the background.
The image below is a long shot of the same man running along the street, with five Werner Graul 3-sheet Metropolis posters in the background.
The third image is a street scene with Metropolis posters observable in the background. These posters include 2 groups of at least three 3-sheets with images by Werner Graul and Heinz Schulz-Neudamm.
